Any day of the year can be the start of a new year. For many Asian cultures, the calendar follows the lunar cycle. Lunar (Chinese) New Year in 2017 starts January 28. This year is the Year of the Rooster. There'll be celebrations at SeaWorld and around San Diego.
Lunar New Year Festival at SeaWorld
SeaWorld celebrates the Lunar New Year by adding Chinese culture to its shows and Chinese food to its menus. The special Lunar New Year Festival Area will let you fill your plate with Asian delicacies. But leave the plate spinning to the Chinese acrobats who'll perform in shows several times a day. The acrobats will dive through hoops, transform into amazing contortions, and show off their other incredible talents. Don't miss the lion dance, dragon parade, and other cultural entertainment. SeaWorld celebrates Lunar New Year from January 28 to February 20.
Other Lunar New Year's Fairs
A Tet Festival will be held at Qualcomm Stadium January 20-22. There'll be lion dancers and other entertainment. The Chinese New Year Food and Cultural Fair takes place in San Diego's Chinatown February 11-12.
