Drinks, music, and art are the Friday night special at the San Diego Museum of Art. With Art After Hours every Friday, you'll have the run of the galleries until 8:00 PM and can hang out in the cafe after for drinks and music.
The museum's collection is enormous, with more than 18,000 works of art, so don't plan on seeing it all in one evening's visit. Choose one collection to focus on, either by geography (perhaps the arts of Africa and Oceania, Asia, or the Americas), time period (European Art before 1859, or Contemporary), or media (paintings, sculpture, or decorative arts). Maybe decide to view something unfamiliar to you; the museum's app will help you make sense of the works' meaning. Besides the permanent collection, you can explore the museum's special exhibits.
After enjoying the artworks, head to the sculpture court. That's where you'll find Panama 66, the cafe, which will be featuring local food accompanied by draft beer, cocktails, and live music. The restaurant stays open until 10, so you can savor your food. The museum shop, Bibliotique, is a great place to pick up unique San Diego crafts.
Then head back to the Days Inn San Diego Hotel Circle near SeaWorld. We're just 4 miles from Balboa Park, where the art museum is located, and near all of San Diego's other attractions. You can stay out as late as you want Friday night or every night and but get back to our hotel and your bed without any hassle.
