If football is part of your holiday tradition, San Diego is the place to be! The Poinsettia Bowl on 12/21 and the Holiday Bowl on 12/27 bring great teams to town. Even if you aren't a football fan, you'll enjoy the parades and other events.
The Poinsettia Bowl takes place at Qualcomm Stadium on December 21. Head to the stadium before the game to enjoy Winterfest in the parking lot. There'll be a sledding hill, a life-size snow globe, holiday music, and other fun for the family. Another pre-game option is the VIP tailgate party, with performances by the college bands. Head inside the stadium with the Family 4-pack, which gets everyone seats plus hot dogs and soda.
The Holiday Bowl happens at Qualcomm Stadium on December 27. Get into game mood the day before at the Kickoff Luncheon, where you can interact with the coaches and players, plus hear the team bands. On game day, start out at the Holiday Bowl Parade, which has more balloons than any other parade in the country, plus floats, drill teams, and more. Then enjoy pre-game activities at the National Funding Fanzone. You can practice your own skills, including passing and kicking, or just enjoy the craft beer garden and food trucks.
After the Games
After the final touchdown, head to the Gaslamp District where there are lots of great restaurants and clubs where you can celebrate your team's victory. The Days Inn San Diego Hotel Circle Near SeaWorld is just a few miles from the stadium, the Gaslamp, and other great San Diego sights like SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo. It's a great base for your stay in San Diego, whether you're here for football or any other reason.
