Movie buffs come to San Diego for the San Diego International Film Festival October 4-8, 2017. The schedule is filled with great films, panel discussions, and special events.
Opening night 10/4 starts with a film screening at the downtown Balboa Theatre followed by celebrity interviews. Then head to a rooftop after-party to celebrate. The next night, 10/5, features the Variety Night of the Stars Tribute. This year's main nominee is Patrick Stewart, who'll receive the Gregory Peck Award of Excellence in Cinema. Each day throughout the festival is filled with screenings and premieres, including major Hollywood studio releases. The San Diego International Film Festival also features special tracks; this year's themes are Social Impact, Environmental, Military, American Indian, and Equestrian.
There's a special day dedicated to culinary cinema on 10/8. The day features films dedicated to food plus great dishes from local chefs.
For those seriously into film, there are passes that offer admission to all events. Casual movie buffs can purchase a day pass or tickets for specific screenings.
