There's never a bad season to visit San Diego, but summer may be the perfect season to visit. Long days mean more hours of sunshine to enjoy everything our city has to offer. Best of all, many of the best things to do in San Diego are free. Here's our guide to fill your summer day doing fun things in San Diego.
Start at the beach, of course. Our 70 miles of coastline mean you've got lots of choices for where to set down your blanket. You could easily fill every day of your trip exploring a different stretch of sand. For a little adventure mixed with a day soaking up the sun, head to Mission Beach, where Belmont Park offers rides, arcades, and other amusements.
When you've had enough sand and waves but aren't ready to head inside, make your way over to Balboa Park. There are gardens to stroll through, trails to hike or bike, a miniature railroad, and plenty of palm trees. If you decide to seek the comfort of air conditioning, the park is home to dozens of San Diego's best museums.
Head to Old Town to spend a day exploring San Diego's Mexican heritage. There are adobe homes and museums in the State Historic Park, outdoor patio restaurants serving up fantastic guacamole and margaritas, and unique souvenirs in Bazaar del Mundo.
Summer fun keeps on going when the sun goes down. Balboa Park has special after-dark events throughout the summer, and the Gaslamp Quarter offers great modern nightlife in historic Victorian buildings. You won't need to turn on the TV for entertainment when you can enjoy free outdoor movies and outdoor concerts.
Plus, there's always fun to be found at Days Inn San Diego Hotel Circle Near SeaWorld. Your kids will love splashing in our pool; you'll love keeping an eye on them from our Jacuzzi. When you do decide to head out to a San Diego summer event, our location gives you great transit options, including the bus, light rail, and the hop-on-hop-off trolley. Stay with us to enjoy your perfect summer getaway to San Diego.
