Reopening Guide to San Diego Theme Parks

San Diego is simply a great place to visit. Our fantastic beaches, perfect weather, and incredible restaurants are always great reasons to plan a trip to “America’s Finest City.” Even so, one often-overlooked reason to make an escape here is our famous San Diego theme parks. Our abundance of amazing parks offers something for everyone. And now that pandemic restrictions are being lifted statewide, these awesome attractions are once again open for all to experience.

Inflatable World (1.8 miles from the hotel)

30,000-square-foot “pop-up” park Inflatable World is once again open to all who’d like to enjoy the air-filled fun at this popular Mission Valley attraction. San Diego’s newest amusement park features giant inflatable bounce houses, exhibits, a toddler zone, climbing walls, and lots of fun for kids of all ages. Balboa Park (2.7 miles away)

Balboa Park may not be a traditional theme park, but it’s nonetheless a can’t-miss destination that draws millions of visitors per year. This is largely thanks to its abundant green space, exceptional restaurants, collection of public art, and family of world-class museums that call the park home. If you plan to visit, you’ll want to stay on top of the tiered reopening schedule adopted by the facilities within the park. San Diego Zoo (3 miles away)

The San Diego Zoo is one of the most popular destinations not just in the state, but on the West Coast — and for good reason. The zoo is home to thousands of animals, all housed in spectacular habitats that mimic their homes in the wild. It’s an absolutely fantastic educational experience and a great day out in that famous SoCal sunshine. As of June 15, San Diego Zoo is open to all visitors, without restriction. SeaWorld San Diego (5 miles away)

SeaWorld has delighted generations of visitors with its entertaining and educational up-close marine-life exhibits of playful seals, orcas, dolphins, and more. Expect incredible exhibitions of all kinds when you make a day of this fantastic park. As of the lifting of statewide COVID-19 restrictions, SeaWorld San Diego is open with no restrictions. Families, thrillseekers, and anyone looking for a fun day out will find much to love at Belmont Park. This timeless boardwalk-style waterfront rides-and-games destination is once again open for business. Belmont Park is located in picturesque Mission Beach and features favorite attractions like the Giant Dipper roller coaster, mini-golf, rock climbing, classic oceanside dining, and more. San Diego Zoo Safari Park (29 miles away)

This sister park to the San Diego Zoo is located just outside of Escondido, about a half hour north of us at Days Inn. This safari-like experience offers visitors a chance to observe animals in a wide-open space that closely mimics their natural habitat. The Safari Park is open and welcoming guests, provided the blanket safety policies that also cover the zoo are followed. LEGOLand California (32 miles away)

LEGOLand California, in neighboring Carlsbad, is a nearby favorite that’s not to be missed. Thrill rides, live shows, and larger-than-life displays of brick-based art have delighted families here for more than two decades. As of June 15, LEGOLand is open to all visitors — including out-of-state residents — with no restrictions. However, advance reservations are still required for admission.
