Old Town Cinco De Mayo Festival

Celebrate Mexican Culture in the Park

Cinco de Mayo is a joyful time anywhere it’s celebrated, but there’s a certain richness to the occasion in San Diego’s Old Town. Located in the birthplace of the modern city, Old Town is home to some of the most extraordinary local attractions, and there’s no better time to experience it than now.

Old Town’s Cinco de Mayo Festival

Spanning the entire weekend, each day of Cinco de Mayo is an immersive whirlwind of fun, excitement, and flavor. The musical lineups are stellar, as are the dining choices, provided by some of the most legendary Mexican restaurants in San Diego, and you’ll get front row seats to unforgettable entertainment.

Music of Cinco de Mayo

Flamenco, norteno, mariachi, and more: Some of Latino music’s most storied genres are on display this weekend. Past years included the likes of Mariachi Real, Perla Negra, and the Manny Cepeda Orchestra, and we can expect the 2018 roster to bring more incredible talent to the stages.

Entertainment

With twice-daily reenactments of the Battle of Puebla as the centerpiece, the weekend showcases a number of vibrant cultural traditions. The Lowrider Lane Car Show takes place all three days, along with tons of kids’ activities, including a petting zoo, pony rides, and more. Bringing the excitement of an arena to the open air of Old Town, the Lucha Libre matches will see San Diego’s reigning wrestling stars square off against one another.

What to Eat and Drink

Whether you’re digging into a plate of tacos or toasting with some speciality margaritas, the list of restaurants participating in Cinco de Mayo represent some of San Diego’s most popular Mexican kitchens. Head to Old Town Mexican Cafe, Rockin’ Baja Lobster, or our personal favorite, Miguel’s Cocina.
